Description

This moist and delicious applesauce cake is perfect for dessert or a sweet snack!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, applesauce, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients gently to avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool before slicing; optionally dust with powdered sugar or frost as desired.
