Description

A festive and easy-to-make appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese (star toppers)
  • 12 slices white cheese (mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or provolone)
  • 12 slices salami
  • 6 mini pickles (cut in halves if large)
  • 12 toothpicks or small skewers
  • 1 tsp dried herbs (parsley or dill, optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Slice cheddar into thick slices and cut out stars using a small star-shaped cutter.
  2. Cut white cheese into even squares for stacking.
  3. Cut mini pickles in half lengthwise if they are too thick.
  4. Fold each salami slice to create a fuller base layer.
  5. Stack on each skewer in this order: salami, white cheese, pickle, repeating until it looks like a tree.
  6. Gently press a cheddar star onto the top of each skewer.
  7. Arrange skewers upright on a platter; trim skewer bottoms if needed for stability.
  8. Sprinkle dried herbs around the platter for a festive finish.
  9. Chill until serving time, then serve cold for best texture.

Notes

  • These skewers can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until needed.
  • For a variation, other types of meats or cheeses can be used.
