Description

A delicious and easy cornbread recipe made with fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until blended.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Stir in sugar if using.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Grease a baking dish (preferably an 8×8-inch square dish) and pour in the batter evenly.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  8. Serve warm with a spoon.

Notes

  • Make sure to use fresh cornmeal for the best flavor.
  • You can use almond milk or any non-dairy milk for a lactose-free option.
