Description

This spiced tea with milk is a warm and comforting beverage perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water
  • 23 tablespoons black tea leaves or tea bags
  • 1 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 46 cardamom pods
  • 12 slices of fresh ginger
  • 12 cloves (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, ginger slices, and cloves if using, to the boiling water.
  3. Reduce heat and let the spices simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse their flavors.
  4. Add the black tea leaves or tea bags to the simmering spice mixture. Let it brew for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and strain the mixture into a separate pot or teapot, discarding the solids.
  6. Stir in sugar or sweetener while the tea is still hot, adjusting to your taste preference.
  7. In another small saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until it is frothy but not boiling.
  8. Pour the spiced tea into a mug, filling it about three-quarters full.
  9. Gently pour the warm milk over the spiced tea mixture, allowing the foam to settle on top.
  10. Stir in vanilla extract for an extra layer of flavor if you like.
  11. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg for a delicious finishing touch.
