Description

This Strawberry Chocolate Layer Cake features three layers of delicious cake, one vanilla, one chocolate, and one strawberry, all beautifully frosted together.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup strawberry jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease three round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder. Gradually add to the wet ingredients alternating with milk until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one plain for vanilla; mix cocoa into another for chocolate; blend strawberry jam into the last for strawberry.
  5. Pour each batter into its own prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  6. Once cooled, layer with frosting between each layer and frost the top as desired.
