Description
A simple and delicious crushed tomato sauce perfect for pasta or pizza.
Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic (minced, about 3 large cloves)
- 1 28-ounce can crushed San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup fresh basil (minced)
Instructions
- In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once shimmering, add the minced garlic and saute for about 2 minutes, or until translucent.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and Italian seasoning. Simmer on low for about 15 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Add the chopped basil and cook while stirring for another 2 minutes then remove from the heat.
- Use immediately, or let cool and store in jars or an airtight container. Enjoy!
Notes
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- It also freezes well for longer storage.
- Adjust seasoning to taste based on your preference.
