Description

A delicious cinnamon sugar cake, perfect for any occasion!


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (for cake)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the cake batter.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before serving.
