Description

A delicious milk cake soaked with a creamy mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon, for dusting (optional)
  • Fresh berries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar until pale and thick. Stir in milk and vanilla.
  4. Gently fold the flour mixture into the yolk mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold the egg whites into the batter gently until fully combined.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  9. Whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk.
  10. Poke holes all over the cooled cake using a fork or skewer.
  11. Slowly pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  12. Before serving, whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  13. Spread whipped cream over the chilled cake. Dust with cinnamon and top with berries if desired.

Notes

  • For best results, refrigerate the cake overnight.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like nuts or chocolate shavings.
