Description

A delicious sesame crusted tuna steak recipe that’s quick and easy to prepare.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 oz tuna steak
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp oregano (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Italian Seasoning (optional)
  • 2 tbsp lime juice

Instructions

  1. Take the tuna steak out of the fridge and bring to room temperature (for at least 40 minutes before cooking).
  2. Pat dry very well with paper towels.
  3. Coat the steak with oil. Season with salt and pepper. Add the optional seasonings (if using any).
  4. Mix the sesame seeds on a plate.
  5. Press the steak to coat in seeds.
  6. Heat 2 tbsp of the oil in a cast iron pan over high heat for 2 min.
  7. Add the tuna. Cook for 60 seconds on both sides.
  8. Hold the steak with kitchen tongs to sear the edges for about 30 seconds each.
  9. Place on a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Drizzle with lime juice.
  11. Cut into 1/2 inch slices against the grain. Serve with a side dish of your choice.
  12. Keep any leftovers in an air-tight container in the fridge for 1 day.
