  • 1 green bell pepper

  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sliced white American cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by thinly slicing your bell peppers and onions. If you prefer a finer texture, you can julienne them.
  2. For the chicken, you can place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs whole into the slow cooker, as they will be shredded later. Alternatively, if you want to speed up the shredding process, you can cut them into larger chunks or strips before adding them.
  3. Place the chicken (whole or cut) at the bottom of your slow cooker. Evenly spread the sliced bell peppers and onions over the chicken.
  4. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper generously over the chicken and vegetables. Pour the chicken broth over everything. Optionally, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce for extra savory depth.
  5. Cover your slow cooker and cook on the LOW setting for 6-8 hours, or on the HIGH setting for 3-4 hours.
  6. Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board or in a shallow dish. Using two forks, shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
